Vote Yes, Pay Less protects the people’s right to choose their energy source
Initiative 2066 to protect energy choices like natural gas has officially qualified for the November ballot, according to the Washington Secretary of State’s Office. The legislature’s ban on natural gas and propane will come to an end in November.
Backers of the initiative turned in more than 546,000 signatures earlier this month, essentially guaranteeing the measure would have more than enough valid signatures to get on the ballot.
Jim Walsh, Washington GOP Chair said: “Congrats to BIAW and Let’s Go Washington. I-2066/Restore Consumer Choice for Natural Gas will be on the general election ballot in November.”
The Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) said the following in a published statement.
We are thrilled to announce that Initiative 2066 Protect Energy Choice, has been officially certified by the Secretary of State and will be on the ballot this November! The record-breaking 546,002 signatures collected was an achievement made possible by the incredible teamwork of Let’s Go Washington, Washington Hospitality Association, Washington Realtors, local homebuilding associations, and all our members. Let’s continue our fight for energy choice in Washington by voting YES for I-2066 in November!
“I was tickled to represent the people of our state by supporting all SEVEN of the Let’s Go Washington initiatives,” said John Ley. “After collecting signatures and encouraging Clark County voters to join the effort, we attended the July 5th final turn-in event. The crowd was thrilled to learn this initiative had collected the second largest number of signatures in state history. It was accomplished in under 50 days, and was deemed impossible by the extreme political forces who crammed House Bill 1589 through the legislature at 2 a.m. the day before the session ended.”
The people have spoken! Bravo!!!!
Polling data shows huge bipartisan support for energy choice in Washington state. Clean-burning natural gas and propane will remain a choice for people to heat their homes, cook their food, generate electricity, and used in manufacturing throughout the state.
Vote yes, pay less!!!!
