Pushing for a public-private partnership to open Brockmann
There was a meeting of state government health and social service staff and several legislators at the Brockmann Campus on July 8. This is the conclusion of 4 “listening sessions” staff was having before compiling a report to the Department of Social and Health Services.
The takeaway is there will be no state funds made available to hire government employees to operate the facility at least through 2029 and perhaps longer. So what are the options? I have been pushing for a public private partnership. This would allow a private firm, already certified to provide care, to rent the facility and get the doors open much sooner rather than keeping Brockmann closed, waiting for government funding.
